The following message was sent on March 8, 2026 to SnapPlus V3 users.
Hello,
We are writing to make you aware of a bug related to P Index calculations that was identified in SnapPlus V3 and corrected on Friday, March 6. Please review the following information and take action if needed for nutrient management plans (NMPs) you are responsible for writing or reviewing.
Bug Summary
We corrected an error in the P Index calculation in SnapPlus V3 that caused the P Index to be underestimated on fields with fertilizer applications containing P2O5. This fix will be most noticeable on fields that receive unincorporated (broadcast) fertilizer P2O5 applications and are no-till or reduced till. Our tests indicate that the changes to P Index values will likely be small on the majority of impacted fields (difference of less than 1 lb/acre/year). This bug was present on the V3 site from August 10, 2025 – March 6, 2026.
Recommended Next Steps
If you have already submitted a completed nutrient management plan (NMP) using V3:
- Run report NM2 Compliance Check and review for P Index flags. This can be done on an archived plan or in the active (non-archived) plan.
- If needed, correct P Index flags and run updated versions of the NM2 Compliance Check and NM5 590 Checklist reports. To make corrections on an archived plan, you will need to click “Amend” for the appropriate archive, make your corrections, and finalize changes.
- If needed, share the updated plan or send updated reports (including signed checklist) to the county/agency contact(s) responsible for reviewing your plan. If you are working with an amended archive, you will need to do the “request review” step on your new archive to share it with your county/agency contacts.
If you are currently working on your NMP in SnapPlus V3:
- On the Management Page in Field View, click the small triangle near the “Calculate” button under rotation settings to open the dropdown menu. Select “Calculate all fields”. Note that this may take some time to complete if your farm has many fields.
- P Index flags will appear on the Management page in the Nutrient Application Planner. For a summary of P Index messages in the current planning year (2026) and future years in your planned rotations, review the “NMP Issues” tracker in the bottom right-hand corner of the Management page. Alternatively, you may run the NM2 Compliance Check report with the “Entire rotation” setting selected and review the “Application messages” table.
- If needed, correct P Index flags before finalizing and submitting your NMP.
If you are a plan reviewer (county or agency staff):
- For V3 plans you have already reviewed for crop year 2026, request or run an updated version of the NM2 Compliance Check report. Reminder: If you have “read only” or “read only no maps” access to a V3 NMP or archived V3 NMP, you have the ability to run the NM2 Compliance Check report and review the “Application messages” table for excess P Index messages.
- Communicate as needed with plan writers if you identify P Index flags during your review.
