The following message was sent on July 31, 2026 to impacted SnapPlus V3 users.
Hello,
We are writing to make you aware of a bug related to tallies of manure spread and remaining that was identified and corrected in SnapPlus V3 on July 21, 2026. Please review the following information and take action if needed for the nutrient management plans listed below.
Our records indicate that you are listed as the primary admin for the following plans that may be impacted by this bug:
Background: SnapPlus V3 keeps track of manure volumes spread and remaining by season and crop year. These values are used to populate the “Available Manure” table on the Management page and are also used in reports. SnapPlus V3 also allows users to set fields as “active” or “inactive” by crop year.
Bug Description: Prior to July 21, 2026, tallies of manure volumes spread and remaining for a given crop year incorrectly included manure planned on inactive fields. As a result, impacted NMPs would have shown incorrect totals for manure volumes spread and remaining. All tallies were automatically corrected on July 21, 2026.
Recommended next steps:
1. Did you use SnapPlus V3 to submit NMP materials for any of the farms listed above for crop year 2026 or future crop years?
2. How to review data for 590 farms (non-CAFOs):
Run the NM5 590 Checklist Report for crop year 2026 and review item 1h.
Compare the values in the Remaining and Total columns for each manure source. Is the value in Remaining greater than 10% of Total? Check both crop year 2026 and crop year 2027. For example, if your Total (total available) for a solid manure source is 100 tons, you want to see a value of 10 tons or less in the “Remaining” column. Tip: You can download a spreadsheet of the Available Manure table by clicking on the gear button in the upper righthand corner of the Available Manure table and selecting “export to CSV.”
Is the value in Remaining greater than 10% of Total?
3. How to review data for CAFOs (WPDES permitted farms):
For impacted plans, identify which crop years are relevant based on the permit application, annual update, or substantial revision that was submitted to DNR using SnapPlus V3 before July 21, 2026. For those crop years, run the CNM4 (Nutrient Mass Balance Report). This report can be run for a range of years.
On the CNM4 report, review the table titled “Annual production and use by source”. Look for positive numbers (in bold and red) in the “Remaining” row for each source. You can also compare with a previous version of the CNM4, if one is available.
Are there positive values in the “Remaining” row for any nutrient sources in the relevant crop years?
4. Communicate with farmer, county staff, and other agency staff as needed (DNR, DATCP, NRCS) and update reports.
If you determine that a nutrient management plan you are responsible for writing was impacted by this bug, we recommend contacting the farmer, county staff where you have submitted the NMP, and any other agency staff (DNR, DATCP, NRCS) depending on program participation.
If you submitted only reports (not plan access) for review, we recommend you run and submit updated copies of relevant reports. If you granted online access to plan reviewers via Farm Permissions or Archives > Request review, please contact county or agency staff to let them know which plan was impacted.
