¶ Exporting Shapefiles
The export shapefile tool allows you to download your spatial data from SnapPlus as a shapefile (.shp). The shapefile will be compressed into a zip file and downloaded to your computer. All geometries and associated attributes for the selected feature type will be included.
¶ Export Steps
- Open the export shapefile dialog by clicking on the import/export button
in the map tools panel - Select the
tab. - Select a Feature type.
- Choose a Shapefile projection.
- Click Export.
- Check your downloads folder for the zipped shapefile.
¶ Export Options
¶ Feature type
- All editable feature types on the map are available to be exported as a shapefile.
- Only one feature type can be exported at a time.
- If you want to export all your features at once, choose the All Features option.
¶ Shapefile projection
The Shapefile projection option allows you to choose from common geographic and projected coordinate systems. If you are importing SnapPlus shapefiles into a different software application, it may be necessary to change this setting to match the coordinate system they accept.
¶ Zip File Contents
The exported zip file will include the following files:
.shp— Geometry data.shx— Shape index.dbf— Attribute table.prj— Projection information.cpg— Text encoding
¶ Tips and Troubleshooting
- If the export produces an empty file, confirm that you have added features of the selected type to maps
- Large datasets may take longer to export.
